The Yonex PolyTour Pro 1.15 mm is a round co-polyester monofilament tennis string designed to deliver an excellent blend of comfort, control, spin, and feel. Despite its thin 18-gauge construction, it maintains the signature plush response that has made PolyTour Pro a favorite among recreational players and ATP/WTA professionals alike. Yonex markets it as a soft, all-around polyester suitable for players of all swing speeds.

Key Features

  • Gauge: 18 gauge (1.15 mm)
  • Length: 200 m (656 ft) reel, enough for approximately 16–18 racquet string jobs depending on racquet size and stringing method.
  • Construction: Polyester monofilament.
  • Technology: Silicone Oil Infused Filament (SIF) technology reduces friction between strings, helping them snap back more easily for improved spin and maintaining a smoother feel.

Performance

  • Comfort: One of the softest polyester strings available, making it a popular choice for players who want a poly without excessive stiffness.
  • Control: Offers predictable directional control while still providing a lively response.
  • Spin: The round profile doesn't generate spin through sharp edges, but the slick surface allows good snap-back, producing excellent spin for a round poly.
  • Feel: The ultra-thin 1.15 mm gauge enhances ball pocketing and touch, making volleys and drop shots feel more connected.
  • Power: Slightly more lively than many control-oriented polyester strings thanks to the thin gauge and softer construction.

Best Suited For

This string is ideal for players who:

  • Want a comfortable polyester with minimal arm shock.
  • Generate their own racquet-head speed.
  • Prefer feel and precision over maximum durability.
  • Play with modern topspin but don't require an aggressively shaped string.

Considerations

The 1.15 mm gauge sacrifices some durability and tension maintenance compared to the thicker 1.25 mm or 1.30 mm versions. Frequent string breakers or heavy hitters may find the thinner version wears out faster, but in return it offers noticeably better feel and responsiveness.
